American Staffordshire Terrier - Xena - Large - Adult - Female
Update 12/12: Xena is the training trick queen! At our recent Walk a Dog in Need event, she not only showed off her mastery of "sit", but she also has "down" and "shake" under her belt. Xena is a calm dog on leash as well and would love to show off her training skills to any and all! She also recently came back from a hike to Cowles Mountain where she was on her best behavior, meeting all sorts of new people along the way. The Warrior Princess herself! Xena is probably the happiest dog at The Barking Lot right now because she was reunited with Casper who she was previously in a home with before getting relinquished by her owner to the Santa Monica shelter for no other reason than she could no longer be cared for. We didn't have a camera on hand when these two pooches reunited, but it was a tail-waggin', tongue kissin', rear wigglin' moment. To top it off, Xena made instant pals with Corona and three other dogs her size when let out off leash in the play yard. She's fantastic with other dogs, though dogs her size are probably best because she's still young and likes to wrestle and tumble about. She's also very sweet towards people (in our opinion, she's more princess than warrior, but don't tell her that!) She's a gorgeous gal as well with a brown-red coat and a long tail that curves up and over at the tip. Let her share her zest for life with you and you can't help but share in her happy-go-lucky enthusiasm.
